April 16 is National Librarian Day, a time to shine a spotlight on the amazing people who help us discover new stories, research our passions, and navigate a world of knowledge—all from the heart of the library.
Here in my community, we’re lucky to have some truly amazing librarians. One of them isn’t just a master of the Dewey Decimal System—she’s also the head of our local writer’s group! In her 20s and full of creative energy, she completely breaks the old stereotype of the strict, shushing librarian with white hair and glasses on a chain. Instead, she welcomes writers of all ages and backgrounds, encourages collaboration, and brings a spark of enthusiasm to everything she does.

So today, we celebrate all the librarians out there who are redefining what it means to run a library. They’re mentors, leaders, tech experts, and yes—sometimes even writers themselves.
If you haven’t visited your local library lately, today’s the perfect day to stop by, say thanks, and maybe get inspired.
Happy National Librarian Day!
